Today I offer no solutions, no revelations, no cures for the common cold: nay, today I offer only a mantra, which has served me well for many years. It might serve to soothe your soul, too, if you happen to be frustrated with the stupidity that surrounds you. This week’s video offers a mantra for the above-average student.

People have focused on the end of times since the beginning of times. Did you know that people were predicting the apocalypse thousands of years before JC walked the Earth? Yeah, they did. This week’s video is all about our obsession with Armageddon and the BIGGEST issue I have with that.

The good old days are a myth. You know what’s a good day? Today. It’s the only day you have. Now is good, now is real, now is your eternity people. Wake up and live it, revel in it, smell it, taste it, feel it. THIS is your good old day, and it’s brand-spanking new.

I’m told over and over again by our media and our politicians that there are just two teams in this country, and I had better choose. I just can’t do it. Both have good points, both have bad points, and neither can possibly encapsulate ANY one individual’s belief system. We are unique mortals with unique minds, and we are being coerced into not using them so that the greedy controllers can continue to laugh at us all the way to the banks they’ve filled with our money.

PEOPLE – once you’ve chosen a team, it’s over for you. You will start to hear your team’s rhetoric as truth and the other team’s rhetoric as blasphemy, without using your brain to choose for yourself. It’s too late. You’ve chosen; you’re officially programmed.

We are a nation divided, and we are falling. I chose Team Resident.

Nothing depresses me more during the holidays that the consumerism. Not the huge meals I don’t really want to eat, not the scrabbling of family members as they jockey to get what they think they want, not even the crap weather here in NYC: none of that is as bad as the consumerism.

And in this crap economy, where everyone is supposedly out of a job and the market is crumbling worldwide, consumerism seems to be even STRONGER. If this doesn’t prove my thesis that shopping is, much like any good addiction, a convenient way to avoid thinking about real issues, I don’t know what does.

So to bring some cheer this year, I thought I’d post my interview with the AMAZING Reverend Billy Talen of the Church of Stop Shopping. If anyone is a pro at fighting the battle against consumerism, it’s this guy.

Merry Consumer-mas, everyone!

All the media is biased. Right AND left, conservative AND liberal. And that’s OK. What’s not OK is how all the media pretend they are fair and balanced and neutral. Not only is that a lie, but it gives them the sneaky ability to declare their stories as the absolute truth. Since they purport to deliver just the unbiased truth, you cannot refute their angle. The bottom line is, it’s impossible for the media to be unbiased, because it’s impossible for people to be unbiased. And what is the media if not just collections of second-hand accounts of events seen through the eyes of fallible, complex human beings? It’s time we got rid of this 200-year old notion of unbiased media, America. Let’s make our media accountable again.

Government offices are supposed to be filled with civil servants. But in today’s America, political positions are filled only with corporate butt-boys. Major campaign finance reform is needed, else we should implement MY idea, presented in this video for your consideration.

The right yells at the left, the left yells at the right, and the people who are really responsible for the shit in this country all laugh their way to the bank. WAKE UP PEOPLE! All this finger pointing and right-versus-left nonsense is not getting us anywhere. We are all pissed at the system, so let’s point our collective anger at Washington and tell them we want REAL reform. It’s time to put the brakes on funding this broken government. Let’s focus on stripping away the corruption FIRST, and then we can worry about how the government should handle healthcare, taxes and other hot-button issues. We can’t fix ANYTHING with our broken and corrupt system as it stands. Let’s fix that first, then worry about next steps once we have a system with integrity in place. As it stands today, our government is a laughing stock. It’s not the right’s fault, it’s not the left’s fault, it’s all our fault for buying into this stupid internal war the powers that be have us all playing into.
