USA Memory Championship: Hope for Humanity

March 30, 2012

Our culture is inundated with stupidity today. People aspire to shallow fame, heaps of money, and other empty goals. With that in mind, I began to search for anyone who might be striving to push forward the boundaries of the intelligence of humanity, instead of the base regression on which the media tends to focus.

This brought me to the USA Memory Championship. Founded in 1997 by Tony Dottino and sponsored by Life’s DHA, a brain-food supplement, the competition is similar to a spelling bee, with competitors memorizing strings of numbers, faces, poetry, cards and other objects in order to stretch their minds. It was fascinating to watch, and it also restored my hope for humanity. This is one video you shouldn’t miss.
