Getting arrested DOES have stigma attached to it, at least in the employment world. It is a sentence to a life as a second class citizen, even if you don’t commit a crime.
[..YouTube..] I did think of one last screamer which is almost no one goes to trail because even if you win the case you will lose unless it is murder or a million dollars law suit. They just give you a deal you won’t be able to refuse. So most of the system is just rhetoric in my opinion.
[..YouTube..] Slap on the wrist? YEAH, IF YOU’RE A LAME ASS CELEBRITY!Check THIS out, theresident! If you get arrested for smoking pot in a downtown park – YOU LOOSE YOUR LICENSE to DRIVE?! How the fuck is THAT right? You weren’t even DRIVING!!No – I’d say the system weighs down like a freakin truck of bricks on the ‘common man’. But if you’re PRIVILEDGED – yeah – it’s a photo op!!!
Great writing but could we move on to talking about better cultural exports, of which America has many but that the rest of the world rarely gets to see.
[..YouTube..] Here in Holland people lose their drivinglicence for a year and you’ll get a 550 euro fine. When you drive with alochol behind the weels. [..YouTube..] Update: Lindsay Lohan is in the isolation cell because of screaming and yelling at guards. Now she risks losing her chance on parole. The guards put her airco on the coolest level. Lindsay is crying and shivering in her bed right now.

[..YouTube..] Lost stigma & deterrence are also outcomes in a country that over-incarcerates for many years, making imprisonment ever-more culturally generic & mundane by doing so. Turning the prison system over to corporate franchises amplifies this – & also produces a predicate toward maintaining (or increasing) recidivism in order to keep said franchises profitable, because fiduciary responsibility is mandatory.
[..YouTube..] Lori, rich people don’t have to live by the same harsh laws like we regular people do.Just look at the banksters stealing hundreds of billions of dollars in “bailouts” by threatening to make the financial system collapse if Congress didn’t pay.Just look at the fact that Congress members are legally allowed to do insider trading — it’s the law.Just look at the “peekaboo” accounting of big corporations, who move losses debts off balance sheets for a few days while reporting to investors.

[..YouTube..] The penal system is stuffed to the gills with low level drug offenders, including – incredible as it sounds – people arrested for smoking pot. That is about the silliest thing imaginable. It’s as unnecessarily harsh as getting arrested for chewing gum.
[..YouTube..] @audadvnc No chewing gum isn’t the same as pot but arresting people for making choices about what to do with their own person seems to go against the ideas of the American founding. All men were created equal simply meant each person had an equal authority so no person could dicate to another what they could do with their life which is the essence of freedom.
[..YouTube..] “Cracking up cars” – I love that phrase. Yeah, between the celebutantes and the rappers, it’s definitely a great career move to go to jail for a while. Do some time in the clink, and get a grainy, night-vision video of yourself performing various sex acts, and you’re all but guaranteed a show on E!.
[..YouTube..] wow. tell us how you really feel Laurie! [..YouTube..] @theresident Very well said Lori. I like following your channel, it is a breath of fresh air. The only thing I don’t agree is the prescription drug part. Doesn’t she need those and aren’t they prescribed by a qualified physician? In any case, good job and please keep it up!
[..YouTube..] The BS penal system is outdated. There must be a way to make petty criminals more conscientious. Community service is probably a lot tougher than jail.
[..YouTube..] lindsay gets followed everywhere for years. it’s almost normal for a young celeb to break under such pressure and abnormality and yeah – do some substance abuse. Yes, our penal system has gotten soft. Celebrities have long enjoyed the “privilege” of getting off with weaker punishments compared to the average person. Why? Because American culture worships, celebrates and admires famous people, just like wealthy people. Nowadays, it doesn’t really matter what you’re famous for anymore, just as long as you’re famous for something.
We’ve really seemed to have lost touch with traditional morals.
There’s a lot of evidence to show the slow decline of honesty and loyalty, in business and personal relationships since about 1970.
[..YouTube..] “It isn’t even a punishment… There isn’t even a stigma attached… it’s almost cool now…” The average person will not only pay for their crime by being incarcerated, paying fines, and forever etched in the criminal record – but even long after they have grown up and the “coolness” has evaporated, they will have a stigma that lasts forever. When you apply for colleges, master degree programs, most decent jobs, even some (or many) low paying jobs… you will likely be denied.
[..YouTube..] (Hopefully) there will come a day when someone has changed and genuinely want to be a productive member of society. A time that comes when they want to contribute, hold an important position in society, etc… However, they will be denied to do so in most case scenarios. Maybe you are thinking of the rapist, the murder, the car thief, or other serious crimes. – This is not always the case. There are many people with a petty misdemeanor offense, & (mostly) their opportunities are gone. Think!
[..YouTube..] I agree 100% People are so willing to look the other way for a famous person. If you look at it closely you can almost see Hollywood actor as their own sense of “nobility” They are given leeway in court, jail, and everybody feels sorry for them. Isn’t America about everyone being equal? Sure doesn’t seem that way.
[..YouTube..] I don’t think drugs should be illegal.. It’s your own choice what filth you put in your body.. that being said.. A good punishment for brainless celebrities would be guantanamo bay, I think!
[..YouTube..] @tabbyque like marijuana ‘abuse’. The sentence for that in America is outrageous by my understanding.. people going to jail for smoking pot.. ridiculous!
[..YouTube..] If a guy took this chick to bed and really wanted to fuck, he’d have to listen to hours’ worth of speeches on shit totally out of every man, woman, child and hottie’s control! Clamp the trap and put out, honey–you were born to fill the world with the progeny of the likes of Walt
[..YouTube..] We should not care about this stuff but you made a very stupid video talking about it. Even more pathetic than the irony of that is the fact that you view the entire penal (it sounds like penis!) system through the experience of people like Lohan and thus your biggest complaint is that prison isn’t a deterrent. The real problem is that huge numbers of black and brown folks are in jail for non-violent crimes. But I guess you can’t make a blow job reference out of that and thus up your view count.
