There are so many things wrong with cars, let’s face it. Environmentally, socially, economically, all of it – all downsides when it comes to cars. I mean, I get that they are cool examples of what mankind can make. And I do appreciate that. But just as like, one-off examples, not as something that a huge percentage of the population relies on to maneuver through their every day. So many people need their cars to get food! To just get food. That’s amazing to me, and somehow wrong. I don’t own a car, and I don’t want to. I think some cars should be allowed, but we really need to change the way our society revolves around them. One town in Germany called Vauban has done just that. Watch the video to hear more. And let me know what YOU think, as far as what we should do about CARS. Fascinating piece of social commentary, eh?

In my opinion Suck my balls.If you’r building house and you bring all wood and stuff on bicycle…. Don’t think so.I live in europe and if I order something from america. Hmmm UPS brings it to me on bicycle.Cars = revolution. Newer cars produce less CO2. Plus thanks to global warming it’s hot in Estonia :p

It’s nice that you live in a city where you can experience the privlege of “vaguely hating cars.” Not only would it be implausible in just about the entire state where I live to not own a car, it would most likely be dangerous. Thank you for trying to make people feel guilty about things that they have absolutely no control over. I still agree with you 90% of the time though.

You make some big assumptions and broad generalizations about people. Take a hint from your screenname, Knowledge. Living like “an amish” isn’t something that happens overnight. The more I live, the more I choose to live simply. It’s better for the earth and better for me. Cars make the world a worse place.. PERIOD! Not only does it dangerous and pollute like a mofo, but it also disconnects people from communities.

I like my car! It’s a potent supercharged V6 handmade by AMG. It chugs gasoline and I floor it all over the place creating lots of emissions. So there! =)

In the US, if you build communities like Vauban, it will attract the small percentage of the population that want to live in a clean, quiet, energy efficient environment, over time as it will become more and more attractive to the general public, I think a more acceptable option would to have a community that has car free zones, but also allow 100% electric vehicles . in some areas, solar panels could generate the “fuel” to go shopping or visit non eco cities.
