The news is dying. Have you heard? A slow, innocuous-wound-looking-yet-still-fatal kind of death. The kind of death where you think the bullet only glanced through meaningless cartilage yet really severed a key artery kind of death. That’s a poetic way of saying: NEWS! You’re really going to die. No suture is going to save you. Why? Well, it’s kind of your fault. You were the first to sign up for hive-mind in a way, so stop blaming the ‘Net. You were the first to plug in to some voyeuristic 24/7 exposure that rendered you useless. Rendered you classless, an aside, OK: Rendered you irrelevant. No more integrity or clout or authority, can you retain, after you put a coifed talking head up there at midnight touting breaking news against a green screen backdrop that indicates the latest Pop Tart’s car chase through The Hills. You said, OK, we’ll talk news all day, every day, from now until Apocalypse Now, and that sealed your fate. People used to think you meant something important. Now? They think you’re just another source of entertainment. Why shouldn’t they? Until you stop blathering on for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, about whatever your army of producers can possibly hand you in the form of chicken-stained notes to feed the prompter, until you start editing your Nielsen-hungry selves, you will nevermore be news, or relevant, or important, or integral, to anyone. You killed yourselves. Stop blaming the Internet. Peace, bitches. Suck it. And all that.

One more thing, you pretentious fool. Don’t try telling me you’re an American, because you certainly have no sense of gratitude for the liberties and freedom you enjoy if you do live here in the US as you claim. Why don’t you move to Albania if this country is so terrible? I’m sure they have great food and a wonderful culture there. If that doesn’t work out for you, try North Korea or Communist China!!

Yes we all just eat big mac all day, watch tv, shop at poor people stores, and drive cheap crap cars.Better then running from any little conflict, but since stereotypes are never true.I haven’t had a McDonald’s in at least 10 years, Everyone has useless people in their country; ours just idolize celebrities, Not sure what is wrong with the stores but don’t shop at them, GM cars are considered crap by most people and is why they are failing, Don’t know anyone who owns a gun

i wouldnt agree on some of your points,there are many important and interesting events in every part of the world, on every stage of our life, from research… trough business… to wildlife… that can easily fill all existing channels with different and everchanging content, content of top quality, you only have to go a little deeper, you see everything is interconnected

I pay say $50/month to ISP’s to access all the news i want on the internet. I pay an additional $40 for Cable TV. I am very selective with what sites i read and shows I watch. I am very happy with my news. Newspapers are dead or dying fast. Good Journalism will live on. Sure there is a lot of crap on TV and the net, Newspapers used to be how i got my news. Everyone that has access to the net now and has a brain is canceling their newspaper subs. Go figure. Peace out bros.

It’s bloody true. The local Fox affiliate once started their nightly broadcast with the breaking story that, yes, Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol. This is absolutely true, and many network affiliates have been forced to pimp out their network programming in the middle of news programming.
I watch PBS. That doesn’t make me any better or worse because they do their fair share of asinine scheduling (Oh, could we run Ken Burns’ Civil War again? Please, oh please?) but at least they haven’t sunk to the lows of disguising tonight’s episode of 24 as a current event.
