		<description>I&#039;m not too sure it&#039;s fair to suppose that creationists aren&#039;t allowing people to believe what they want, rather to ut forward their views. Though it is possible they are of the view that (since it comes from Scripture as inspired by God, who does not lie) it must be absolute truth.

My personal view (as an evangelical Christian) is that whilst it is easy to take such a (purely literal) reading of the Bible, it is hard to square with the scientific evidence, and many young-earth claims don&#039;t seem to be conclusive and can at times exhibit wilful ignorance. This is not to say that the literal reading of Genesis could not be true, but that there are other ways of interpreting it. *That* God created the universe and remains active in it, I do not question. How, and how long, is another matter.</description>
