Years ago I did a video called “Why People Hate the USA” and it got grillions of hits because a lot of people DO hate the USA, and a lot of people mistook me for one of them. Which, if you watch the video and my own response to it, is not the case. However, the video inspired many, many, many people to write in to me with many, many, many reasons why people do hate the US. One of the most popular reasons that people wrote in is that Americans are fat. Now, I seriously don’t think it’s right to hate someone just because he or she is fat, or overweight or obese. It’s not easy to NOT be fat in America, because we have so many delicious things to eat around every corner. Plus we are marketed to so heavily from people who make delicious yet awful for you things to eat. To stay trim in America, you either need a killer metabolism, or you need to be vigilant every day. I am of the latter bunch, and it IS a vigil to be sure. But the thing is, it’s my body, which is the vessel of my life, so I’m going to take care of it. The fact that two-thirds of us are clinically overweight or obese, meaning a body mass index of 25 or greater, means that as a country we’ve lost sight of that. We have become sedentary, sedated in our comforts, life has become so relatively easy that we’ve forgotten to cherish our bodies. Which stinks! Because I really love this country and its people. I think we are a really fun bunch of outspoken, varied people, but we’ve let our general wealth and suburban comfortable lifestyle get the better of us. And I hate that. And NOW, on top of it, our mainstream media is starting to embrace the notion that REAL PEOPLE ARE FAT. Oh NO. NO NO NO NO NO you don’t, mainstream media. That is just going to far, and I really hope that more people than the little ol’ Resident stand up against this new trend. Because if we let the media tell us it’s normal to be overweight, we’re all doomed for sure. I for one am committed to maintaining my fighting weight so I can fight this latest crap.

She can be more accurate by saying “lazy Americans.” I lived in NY city, Portland OR, and now in rural Oregon. People drive to college in a 3 square mile town. They live 3 blocks away and drive. I know people who drive 100ft to the mailbox and garbage. it’s pathetic. (I bike, never had a car.)

The video “why everyone hates the USA” is not anti american at all. Also the argument “if you don´t like it here, just move away” is not so valid after all because the only intention behind it is to mock people that want to change certain things or speak out on issues. So “if you don´t like it here, move away” is an epitome of an anti democratic attitude in my opinion.

I think it’s OK to criticize fat people.For most, being fat or overweight is a result of dietary choices and a sedentary lifestyle. I’ve met many who say they don’t like being fat, yet stuff burger after burger into their mouths and don’t make an effort to get off the couch. It’s weak.I have absolutely no sympathy for fat people who have the power to change themselves but who makes excuses instead.

Instead of making a video about blaming the media for Americans being fat, how about doing a video telling fat people to take responsibility for their health? Its not the media’s job to babysit people. If people are stupid enough to do whatever the media tells them to do, or buy whatever the media tells them to buy, then they deserve what they get.

I went to america for 2 weeks, stayed in hotel so ate out every day. The portions are gigantic! You order pancakes and comes about 6 giant pancakes, to feed 4. I had to diet like crazy when I got home. Next time I go, I’ll rent an apartment and cook my own food!

Im a 6′1 200lbs guy. I have no fat, but i eat 5-6 large portions of good food a day. (lots of chicken and veggies).
If you workout and stay fit, you would be suprised how much you can eat and stay healthy.
Strength training especially needs LOTS of calories, (working on larger muscle groups like legs, chest, arms, will really keep the gut down).
