The US of A has gone absolutely bonkers over healthcare. Man! What is the deal? People are totally up in arms over it! Is it because healthcare is a highly personal, important issue in people’s lives? I can relate to that. I mean, my insurance coverage is just AWFUL, absolutely, 100% rotten. I pay so much money to get basic services done, and I hate it. BUT! You still don’t hear me calling anyone a Nazi, or ranting like a lunatic at a town hall meeting. There’s not reason we should resort to these shouting matches, people. Especially when it’s really, really, really hard for us all to know the true facts behind Obama’s proposed healthcare reform legislation. There are so many rumors going around, and really we all just have hearsay to rely on because who the heck has time to read the grillion page mainfesto that is the proposed legislation? Honestly, right now there is just a ton of misinformation and name-calling and threats going around, and in the midst of it many of us in this country have really lousy healthcare. AND our country spends entirely too much money on the curret crappy system. So, the bottom line is that SOMETHING has to be done. Can’t we all agree on that one, for a sec? THEN, let’s take a look at the facts of what is really on the table here, and THEN we can start to figure out what should be done and what shouldn’t. Becausee no matter what, we SHOULDN’T be calling each other nazis, especially when we’re as ill-informed as we are about this proposed legislation.

I live in Austria, a “single payer” country like most of Europe. My father was in the US Army and we went to military hospitals when we were sick. There was never a question about medical bills and our family was generally healthy and well-cared for. After his retirement the govt. started reducing his coverage and the avaiability of health care to retirees whom they had promised life-long care in reward for their service. 10 years later, he was forced to join a HMO. The insurance co. had won!

just keep clean, drink pure water, eat lots of clean organic fruits and vegetables and EXERCISE and you will be physically fit and have no need for anyhealth care unless you are injured in a car accident or something stupid like falling down the stairs. it isn’t natural to wind up with heart problems, high blood pressure, dimminng vision, obesity. these can be cleared up thru clean living and EXERCISE.

I live in England where we have a “free” health care system in the NHS. We also have Private if you can afford it. Private, as I’ve recently found out, is like a 5 star hotel compared to the NHS 3 star.Everyone pays a separate tax contribution for the NHS, regardless if you have Private cover.There are all sorts of arguements for and against our system but the bottom line is, to call ourselves a moral society we must care for each and every one of us, and that starts with our health.

Nice Video and good point. I am originally from Europe,lived in Germany and France and worked there in the medical field and now I am in the medical field in the US. Create a socialism based system that will help all Americans while eliminating entitlements for the weathy. Our capitalist system is wrong in its current erected status. Why, as a country of people have we allowed more value to profit for the small majority, while the majority are increasingly going without basic needs such as healthcare. This issue is too complex to solve easily. However, one thing is clear…. GREED needs to be eliminated in this country.

But come on people, if a child is born to a poor family and has complications at birth are you happy for the child to just die because their parents can’t afford to pay the bills?It’s a grim world when bank balances make decisions on life & deathWhat about the elderly who can barely afford their living costs? Thank You for another great summary…. I think you are exactly right! If two, educated, opposing sides interpret any legislation in two very different ways… there is a serious problem and you are right…. it lends itself to confusion. Having said that… the only thing worse than “no legislation” is “bad legislation.” It is very difficult to change it once it’s past. No matter which side of the fence you are on, we all would be better served by not rushing and getting a bill that is specific

Remember that it is written in the Declaration of independence : ” We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are LIFE, LIBERTY and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. Healthcare is a matter of LIFE and DEATH for someone who get really sick and since LIFE is supposed to be an UNALIENABLE RIGHT and not something you pay for so should healthcare be for those who cannot afford it.

What you don’t understand is why it cost someone with insurance more then someone without.The person paying 800 is subsidizing the person who pays 600.The person who pays 600 is paying that sum not because of the lack of insurance but because of their income.A rich person without insurance will pay much more.

[..YouTube..] 1. The ‘Resident’ is perpetuating the lie that government would be running h.c. under the new plan. If only that were true. The ‘Resident’ should educate herself. 2. We trust government to protect us, to deliver our mail, to see that what we eat and drink are safe, etc., etc. I’m tired of the old Reagan lie that government id bad. We need to look at other countries and take out the best parts of there health care plans and incorporate them into one plan for this country.
It’s very obvious that the capitalist approach to health care doesn’t work out very well for the people in need.
Providing health care & wanting to make a profit at the same time is kinda a conflict of interest wouldn’t you say? wink!

[..YouTube..] for more people to have access to health services (HS) costs should be lowered and donations should be encouraged. for costs to be lowered competition should be increased. to increase competition state enforced barriers to market entry should be removed. to increase donations they should be incentivized by tax CREDITS (not merely tax deductions). How one goes about accomplishing the removal of barriers to mkt entry and changes in the tax code, i do not know.
