I don’t know if it’s only my good fortune or what, but a lot of people write in to my web talk show and try to convert me to people write in to my web talk show and try to convert me to their religion. Isn’t that awesome? No. It’s not. Please, everyone who does that or is thinking of doing that: your efforts are wasted. My MOM couldn’t tell me what religion to follow. You are certainly not going to be able to do so either. I was raised Catholic and live in the society of New York City, exposed to many types of religions and cultures on a daily basis. So I’ve dabbled in learning about each of them, as they come along. The bottom line is, I pretty much don’t like religions. Opiate of the masses and all that, all true to my ears. But that’s not why. I kinda feel like masses need opiates sometimes, even though I wish that weren’t true. I just personally don’t need an opiate, or a bunch of rules to explain to me who I am, how I should act, and where I’m going after I die. I am me. I should tread lightly on this Earth and try to leave only positive impacts wherever I may go. And I don’t believe it is my right or privilege to know what happens after I die. ….Wow, so she left the awesomeness of Catholic church for something foolish (Buddihism though to me is ok, I am NOT saying that is foolish) I mean sure the catholic church would know more than what you do. I mean first off its 2000 years old and Jesus made it. Thats like saying I am leaving this church, so that I can go to a scientologist church which is basically stupidity on steroids. I mean it needs the money to keep hospitals, schools, universities, and other charitable institutions open.

If you like Buddhism Google a picture search for Kapala ! The problem with spirituality just like religion is that you ignore the horrid side of things like pedorast priests or Drinking blood from a real Kapala like you would if you were a real Buddhist! Freedom tastes like reality!

I’m a Tibetan Buddhist and we don’t do that. Way to imply that she’s not a “real” Buddhist because she doesn’t participate in one practice of one sect though.Of course, while “real Buddhists” depict ancient deities or Buddhas drinking blood out of them, they don’t actually do it in real life. A ban on human or animal sacrifice is one of the most deeply held convictions of Buddhist faith in general, and Tibetan Buddhism in particular.

They shut an institution down because it was no longer profitable. She didn’t leave just because of that, but because it opened her eyes to the fact that the church was a for-profit business, not the spiritual entity she thought it was.

Only he used that exact phrase, but he’s far from the only demigod to found a religion. Even if he was, having a more exaggerated and grandiose claim doesn’t automatically make your claim true. I could say I was a thousand feet tall, but you’re not going to convert to my religion just because nobody else made the same claim.

Of course you don’t! Similarly, I don’t have to see Jesus to know that he’s not the way, truth and life. The reasoning is identical: we are both making ridiculously overblown claims. That’s how you can tell both claims are false.

[..YouTube..] What exactly does “spiritual” mean? No one ever seems to want to define it or even agree on it’s meaning. If you are talking about belief, do you pick a religion based on taste–like if it feels warm and fuzzy? I can only believe something that is TRUE, something verifiable, provable and graspable in reality.

They have both good and bad aspects about them, but the world would be much better off without any religions in these times and future times, we live in the nuclear age, an age dominated by technology. We can’t be risky with quarrels over which group’s imaginary friend is right or wrong.
