I’m not sure I’ve ever told you guys this, but I was raised Catholic. I went to Catholic school and everything, can you believe it? Maybe that’s why I basically went bananas in college in terms of bad behavior. I had been a goody-goody all my life, so I lived my teenage rebellion in my twenties. I regret nothing! Even though I went through this raucous time, I still managed to hold onto a lot of what my Catholic upbringing taught me. I mean, I have largely dumped the religion, and all religions, in general, because all of them have major, fundamental flaws. I consider myself to be extremely spiritual, but religious I am not. One of the main takeaways from Cathocism – and probably for many Christian religions – for me is the power of forgiveness. There’s nothing like it! The bottom line is we’re all human, and we all mess up, so who are we to hold it against other people when they screw up? I think very few people do bad things on purpose. I think most people are trying to do their best and are usually just ignorant or forgetful or something else benign when they transgress other people’s boundaries of goodness. And then when they realize they messed up, most people feel really, truly horrible about it. We’ve all been there. So why NOT forgive that person? It makes them feel so much better, and it also makes YOU feel better. Plus it eliminates all that residual crap, the resentment and the bitterness and all that lingering crap that eats you up inside. So just FORGIVE and move on, and it’s better for everyone. So freeing. So this being my general attitude, it was difficult when I heard that Michael Vick was getting a second chance. Here’s the way I understand it – he’s become a spokesperson for the Humane Society and seems remorseful/learned his lesson. Yeah, but he also ran a dog-fighting ring, killed some of the losing dogs via drowning/hanging, and watched some of his own family pets get ripped to shreds by trained fighting dogs for “fun”. Great, he got a second chance in society already. Why should we teach kids that you can be a monster in society but really you’re based on your throwing arm?

Here’s the way i see it. The man spent almost 2 years in prison and to me i think he paid his debt to society. Meanwhile you have gang bangers that get a lesser sentence for doing a lot worse!!Just my 2 cents.

It sucks and he IS a bad guy. But he DOES deserve the second chance he’s getting right now. There are much worse people getting them all the time…..Vick’s just getting the most press….God The Press Sucks!

though I do agree with you on some points, All forms of life are equal, and should be treated as such. Every person, animal, insect, and plant life were put on this Earth and all have a right to exist. It is not up to us to decide which form of life is less important.

“to error is human, but to forgive is Divine.” However if he makes the same mistake twice it is no longer a mistake. “fool me once, shame on you..but fool me twice its shame on me.” Forgiveness is part of our humanity and our civility. If we lose this aspect, we are no different than those who commit horrible acts.

Lets stop looking at professional athletes as role models. Let them do all the drugs they want. Let them take all the performance enhancement drugs they want…:) If they want to kill dogs let them pay the same penalty a poor white or black person would face. Don’t make this a white black thing, this is a guy who would be a piece of crap with or without millions of dollars. Find more meaningful things in life, stop watching sports, then bozos like him would not be millionaires. Turn off the TV.!

Seriously? You honestly think this way? …wow.I work at nuclear plants…..I’m not allowed to commit crimes, things of that nature. If I did I would loose my job. It wouldn’t affect my job performance they just would never allow me to work there again. How is it that this bastard should be any different?

Only in America can the entire nation come down on one man for torturing a couple dogs.
