I’m probably going to get a lot of crap for promoting Ron Paul right now, but getting a lot of crap from people I’ve never met face to face has never stopped me before right? So I supported Barack Obama for President in 2008 and not Ron Paul for a wide variety of reasons, none of which were that I didn’t like Ron Paul and his fresh ideas. Anything I’ve read or watched about him, I love. However, I feel the same way about Tom Green, and I didn’t vote for HIM for President of our country either. I believed in Obama because I knew it would help change the global perception of our country, which is clearly did. I talk to enough people from around the globe every darn week of my life to be confident in that. I also thought having a President of African American descent was important from a cultural perspective, too. Too many people in this country are still racist, and they need to become more comfortable with other kinds of people already. I think Obama accomplished both of those things. Do I think he can really truly change things in Washington, DC? Absolutely not. Do I think Ron Paul could have, had he managed to become President? I’m not sure, but I know it would have been fun watching him try! But the bottom line is, I truly did not believe – and still don’t – that there was any chance in HELL that Ron Paul would have been elected to the office of President in 2008. It was the Nader effect. The only effect Ron Paul would have had on the election in 2008 would have been to muss things up for the other candidates. A wasted vote, and all that. Also – Ron Paul supporters online are insane. I actually had someone send me an email on YouTube saying he was very glad my dad was rotting in the ground because I wasn’t voting for Ron Paul. I’m not exaggerating or kidding. Kind of hard to jump on THAT bandwagon, if you see what I mean. But – so, after Obama’s presidency, it might be time for Ron Paul. Or rather, after the country sees that anything short of a truly radical thinker means more of the same, they might just be ready for a thinker like Ron Paul. And PS – legalization of marijuana – Ron Paul in 2012 anyone?

It’s weird that everyone says their afraid of Change but Obama ran and won on “change”. That slogan, “change” is a word used and never implemented. Also, you may want to follow this one up with the money that goes into the Dems and Republicans initiative. Ron Paul will NEVER have a chance if true change is never realized in politics.

Lori, the elections are not a popularity contest. You should not vote for who you think might have a better chance to win. You have to pick the one that represents you best and vote for him, even if your vote is the only vote he gets. If you prefer Paul but decide to vote for Obama simply because he has a better chance to win then what will that get you? A free toaster for voting for the ‘winner’?BTW, try and search for “Zeitgeist” on Google video, then tell us what you think of it.

Well you might be right but I think it might be a good idea to peg the dollar to something instead of relying on its ethereal value. Once it is pegged it will hold its value because it will always be worth the same amount by whatever we pegged it to. So if we peg it to something like “pounds of tree bark” it will always be worth that many pounds of tree bark.

Ron Paul is not radical, he is logical and rational. We have been raised and educated by corrupt government propaganda our entire lives. We don’t need rulers, if you have a ruler… you are a SLAVE!Their best trick was giving us the illusion of freedom, but they are the kings and we are still the slave peasant workers being extorted for tax. TAX is EVIL! TAX is THEFT! the state will never be punished for this crime but you will if you don’t pay up. Sound familiar? just like the MAFIA?

Ron Paul is hardly radical – he’s a right wing libertarian reactionary. To go even further, Ron Paul isn’t promoting “new” ideas. He wants to go back to the Gold Standard, wants to repeal Roe v. Wade, staunchly supports states rights and wants to dismantle all worker and consumer protection laws.Freedom and liberty my ass! Ron Paul wants to establish a tyranny of the business class. You don’t have to be a “statist” or leftist radical to understand that.

You do! If you think going through a 3rd party (government) is going to be cheaper than paying for these services directly you’d be mistaken. I have worked out the cost of services in Britain to be around £2000 per year to pay for all our services yet I pay approximately £10,000 in taxes.eg. in England for every £100 in taxes spent on schools the bureaucrats get £99 and only £1 is actually spent on educating our children.Facts not magic :-)

i think ron paul has his heart in the right place and what he envisions is great, but i think pure free market capitalism would in time lead to a few more very very rich people and hundreds of thousands or millions of very poor working class people as the capitalist classes would have free reign to exploit everyone, unless workers stood up for themselves and demanded good wages through unions and such, if that happened then maybe it would work, who knows.

Christ, you free market fundamentalists are as bad as any religious zealot. No institution, no political system and no ECONOMIC system is above reproach. So your against tyranny of the business classes but support the tyranny of monopolistic governments? And NO, under a truly free market system you don’t lose consumer protection laws as the free market responds to accommodate its clients or they wouldn’t have any and workers just need to make sure they have a contract, its that simple.Governments on the other hand have you by the balls, you have no choice but to pay or you’ll be locked away in an institutionalised rape room.Still sound fair?

Pays for the roads? Gas Tax

” It doesn’t run on magic.” It Also doesn’t solely run on Federal Funding. Federal funding only accounts for a small portion. It gains the federal gov. jurisdiction where otherwise they would have none.

The states also have worker and consumer protection laws. Abolition of federal statutes would not mean there are no laws to protect the workers and consumers. The states that write the best laws would prosper leading to a “free market” competition among the states. The deficient states would conform to be more prosperous. Federal regulations hamper this process. Under US Constitution People = State, Ron Paul advocates state rights appropriately.
