A piece of mine for RT: As the global meltdown deepens, people’s attitudes towards money is changing. I took to the streets of New York to find out whether the Big Apple believes in the dollar’s bright future.
Oh gee, and if the rest of the world refuses to accept the US dollar for the goods we purchase, and the “aide” we give out, all to tie economies globally ie how do you get control of another nation’s economy? give them your money (not gold) Perhaps the US will, once again, produce her own daily needs, and then maybe Joe Blow can pay his mortgage with his fiat money

I find it a little disturbing that people think Obama is the reason the value of the dollar is going to go up. As if he’s Jesus and he’s going to make money more valuable just by walking through the mint.At the end of the day Obama is just one person, and all of his decisions must be passed by a government, so if the dollar does get stronger it can’t be credited to just Obama alone. The entire government needs to do the right thing as a whole.

When someone gets a mortgage or loan, that’s “printing money”. The US government is issuing debt in exchange for existing currency, there is no “printing”.If anything money is being “deprinted” as massive deleveraging take places.

Going back to a barter system or at least a system of real value like gold or silver would be ideal. I’d rather someone trade me a cow for a sheep than cash that isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

my faith in the dollar is going down a slippery slope.. what we need to look into is getting rid of a lot if not all the people in congress and other political offices and the fed reserve. it seems to me they are all sitting pretty in their homes with a nice size bank account but what about everyone else? the people stuggling are always going to struggle and the people ontop of the money pyramid just dont give 2 sh*ts about the poor..this government needs a review and fast

US dollar is still among the strongest in the world…there is a consiparcy theory that US wants to weaken its own dollar to bankrupt other countrys so that way it comes out with a new currency that is more universal and that way controls the world’s resources better but i am not buying it…..i do believe that the policies of the last president led to weakness of US dollar but it is still pretty damn strong compare to almost all currencies out there (except Euro and pound)

Obama spent more money that all the US presidents in US history combined. Also, banks had their hand in screwing things up, too. Bush did make mistakes but he is not the sole cause. I did not agree with some things he did either. The president does not steer the economy. He does have an effect , but not total control. That is what Congress and such are there for – to keep the president in check (or it is suppose to, anyway).
