So gem66meg brought up the topic of the death penalty again on the Residential Forum, and it reminded me that it was a social and cultural issue I had been meaning to cover in a political video. Thanks, Gemmeg! Then, I read this story, which is essentially it is about a guy on death row in Ohio who says he is too fat to be executed. The way people are executed there is by lethal injection, and the guy asserts that it will be too hard to find a vein and that his extra weight might weaken the lethally injected drugs, making it take a lot longer and be a lot more painful for him to die. The guy was convicted of rape and murder, by the way. So, yeah…watch the video and then give your two cents on the issue of death penalty. Are you for it, or against it?

Yes there is some thing wrong with killing a person like Jeffrey Dahmer! HE’S A FUCKING PERSON! Not only that i don’t think the government should have the power to take away some ones life. I’m not saying he shouldn’t be locked up because people like Jeffrey Dahmer are still fucked up and dangerous.

Thats why you guys have sucha a hard time convincing people of your positions…its all ideological bleeding heart stuff. Its so dishonest. Trust me jeffrey dahmer did to someone in your family what he did to those men you’d forget he was a “FUCKING PERSON” real quick. Ill ignore the finer points and say we agree he deserves killing, but the government shouldnt be doing it(except I dont think its “immoral” for them to do it just dont trust them to do it to the right guy.)

I am agains the death penalty 100%, for innocents like those women. I am all for it for creatures like that. Being “human” is far more than the physical aspect. If I build a car out of construction paper is it a real car? Nope. There are fundamental emotional/morale entities absent in these creatures’ minds. They are not human, at least not in the strict sense of the word. It is wrong to kill a human like this guy did. It is not wrong to kill a dangerous creature like him….

Human nature is simply aggressive, and i support the death penalty 100%, i want it back in England, the disbanded it quite some years ago, i believe in an eye for an eye. People who can walk the streets and kill without remorse for no purpose or for their sick needs, dont deserve a place in society nor near humans.

Prevention over punishment! The USA in particular is allowing more innocent people to be raped and killed in order to focus on how the offenders should be punished. It’s valuing revenge over life in more ways than one.

The things I don’t like about the death penalty are twofold: 1. You can execute an innocent person. 2. It seems that only lower middle class and poor people sit in the chair or get the needle. How many of you have seen or read about the lights going out on a rich guy? Another thing – you sometimes hear of someone being tried as an adult even though they are < 18yo. You can’t do that; they are either “infants” at law or they are not.

did he care about their pain? did he care when he brutally raped them? did he care what they went through wen he was having sex? did he care how scary it would have been for the two women when they knew they were going to die? did he experience their pain during the actual act of killing? did he feel the pain of their relatives and family who may not have even found a decent body to put to rest?so much for worrying about the damn pain of these killers. once proved beyong doubt, kill em anyway

Two problems with the death penalty. If murder is wrong then how can the government use killing as a punishment? Either it’s wrong for everyone to kill or it’s not. Also, there are times an innocent person gets executed. Look what happened to Jesus Christ.

[..YouTube..] I’d take a bullet to the head over lethal injection any day. It would probably be way cheaper to do as well. We don’t have capital punishment in my country, but I agree with it for the most part. I don’t see a point in keeping people alive with our tax dollars who do unspeakable crimes. I know some innocent people might get put to death. But does it compare to all the tax dollars to keep them alive? Or how about the people that die from convicted criminals that weren’t put to death?
