Confession time. I watch inordinate amounts of bad, bad TV. My DVR is chock filled with Celeb-reality awfulness, prime-time network schlock, late-night cop shows, you name it. TV has always been my favorite medium, aside from books. Give me sixty minutes of idiocracy over a two-hour dramatic movie any time. I like my entertainment to be really light-hearted and entertaining. And I don’t reprimand myself for watching these cultural atrocities because the people who appear in the shows I watch are all in it for the fame. They are all fully, truly aware that they are compromising and exploiting themselves for the sake of fame. And I am fully, truly aware of how awful the shows are. I enjoy watching the edits, too. I like to listen for key splices where I know the editors are trying to make things sound as horrible as possible. I like to imagine the off-camera producers prodding away at their cast, giving them ideas to make things as dramatic as possible, rigging things so that cast mates get angry at each other. Maybe it’s because I focus on heady, important matters oftentimes in work that I want my entertainment as mindless as possible. Maybe it’s because I edit video all the time that I appreciate the over-manipulation of bad TV. Whatever it is, I don’t think I’m being a bad citizen by watching a certain kind of bad TV. But John and Kate Plus Eight? That’s a whole other kind of bad. And you all watched it! So I thought it would make a first great topic for an idea I have had for a recurring segment called Why You Suck. So, here it is! Hope you enjoy it, suckers.

It’s the first time I hear about this crap and now I saw it on the Travel channel. Why it’s on there? Anyway those bitches better suck on my balls. They raise their kids with all kinds of worthless junk around and talk about privacy yet have cameras around everywhere and act like a bunch of loons. Fuck your privacy, idiotic consumerism and double standards, act like human beings and raise your kids to be educated and cultural people who would be ready for real life.

Yeah I totally sucked this week. I caught the show for the first time and stuck around for the 4 episode marathon. I even cared for a few episodes thinking about myself and my wife trying to raise kids, which made me feel better about our stability. That’s how I get addicted to these reality shows – I end up watching and feeling better about myself as a person.

I got rid of my cable a long time ago. Most of the stuff on it isn’t worth the money. But every night I watch a free movie from the New York Public Library’s expanding DVD collection. Probably soon I will try reading a book!! TV sucks, except for your show.

Loving your children have different levels. Every parent claims loving chilren, including the one that feeds them and then leaves them alone. If you involved in your children’s live a lot, with all the after school activities, you will know one parent is NOT enough even for two children, let alone for 8. I bet Jon and Kate have no time to send their kids to after school activities at the same time. They either do one for the twins or for the sexplets.

i use to love this show alot and i use to watch it everyday untill they announce the divorce and this video made me relized this show it on a learning channel wat the point of it when we wernt learning anything beside watching how the parents split up and i never saw them say to there kids i love yuh except the kids say it to each other

yeah…i thought that show was kinda weird even when it first came out. i was thinking that if i was a kid who had a camera following me around all day i’d get pretty annoyed. not to mention it’s slightly creepy to constantly videotape a family; it’s stalker-ish.
