Eisenhower’s Military-Industrial Complex Warning

We all know the U.S. spends an unconscionable, unfathomable amount of money on its military. We also know that many politicians have direct financial interests in companies that manufacture arms, which are bought by the U.S. government based on those politicians’ policies. It’s a nice racket if you can get it, I guess. What we might not all know is that President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of the dangerous marriage between the military and industrialism in his farewell address from the office on January 17, 1961. He was dead on. So this week I thought I’d share some snippets from it, as it seems like we are experiencing the very worst of what the military-industrial complex can wreak. That is: the country done gone broke, and the politicians are laughing their fat asses all the way to the bank.
