Prejudice

If you’ve tooled around this site for a page or two, you’ve probably picked up that I have a liberal viewpoint, that I’m an open-minded, countercultural kind of girl concerned with social issues. Low on the bad –isms, like ageism, sexism, and racism. That is to say, I don’t hold much prejudice against pretty much any culture or individual. Or so I thought. It has recently come to my attention that I am, indeed, prejudice against one type of person. The ignorant type. When someone says the slightest thing with a certain level of ignoramusness, I’m immediately hatin’ on them. And I’ve recently decided that that’s just not right. Maybe that person is ignorant on a particular subject just because they’ve never encountered any previous experience with it. Like, I’m pretty ignorant about how knitting. And I could see myself saying something really ignorant about knitting like, “Man is knitting like the most boring thing to do with your time or what?” How would I know? I’ve never knitted. So, I’ve decided to try to work on my prejudice against bird-brains. Because there are plenty of times when I am the bird-brain. No, don’t gasp and shake your head so violently. It’s true. And I promise to try to be better. So, what are YOU prejudice against? There’s got to be SOMETHING. Let me know your two cents on this social issue.
