The Vegetarian High Horse

I absolutely love a good steak now and then. Now, it’s become a social responsibility issue, though, this eating of the steak. Here are some facts about how crappy the Livestock Industry is for the environment (with the US being the biggest meat-eating country on the planet, no less): Livestock now use 30 percent of the earth’s entire land surface, mostly permanent pasture but also including 33 percent of the global arable land used to producing feed for livestock. The livestock sector accounts for 9 percent of CO2 deriving from human-related activities, but produces a much larger share of even more harmful greenhouse gases. It generates 65 percent of human-related nitrous oxide, which has 296 times the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of CO2. Most of this comes from manure. And it accounts for respectively 37 percent of all human-induced methane (23 times as warming as CO2), which is largely produced by the digestive system of ruminants, and 64 percent of ammonia, which contributes significantly to acid rain. Livestock are estimated to be the main inland source of phosphorous and nitrogen contamination of the South China Sea, contributing to biodiversity loss in marine ecosystems. For more depressing information on the topic, see the full report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Now how’s a social responsibility, countercultural kind of girl supposed to enjoy her filet mignon with all that nonsense bouncing around in her calcium-fortified skull, hmmmm? Let me know what you think about the social issue right here in this little Residential liberal community.

  1. [..YouTube..] @diehardcutie lmfao never knew you could be hated for caring about something so much. Oh my im terrible.

  2. diehardcutie says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick a very uneducated one. if i wasn’t worth the time, you wouldn’t have kept replying. humans are made to eat animals, its called nature. we didnt just wake up one morning and decide to ‘put them through bullshit’. time to grow up little girl.

  3. [..YouTube..] @diehardcutie Im a vegan. A very proud one. Its unfortunate that animals have to go through the bullshit humans put them through. This is my last comment. You arent worth the the time.

  4. kpuc1973 says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick “…Humans have the ability to CHOOSE. Since we have that choice, why not eat plant based food…” I like meat, I choose to eat it.Admittedly meat from an animal kept and killed humanely on a smallholding tastes better but failing that, one that has been stunned prior to death is ok.Perhaps you should take issue with animals that have been killed and die slowly in a Kosher or Halal manner.I’d still eat those though.

  5. kpuc1973 says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick indeed, but generally generalisations are based on truth – i.e. the american army shoots its allies. heck they’ve gotten so bored with using the term fractricide that the more friendly blue on blue is used instead. Either way it still involves some trigger happy oaf being unable to tell the difference between an ally and someone sitting in an a soviet made tank. And old people smell like piss not shit

  6. [..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick Lmfao attacking you? Youre missing the whole point. Just because a vegetarian fucked with you doesnt mean they are all going to fuck with you.

  7. zenithsage says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick Who cares? Each to their own. When you attack me about my lifestyle ,I will attack yours. Plain and simple. Run along now.

  8. diehardcutie says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick bahaha your whole comment SCREAMS brainwashed. you’re the typical uneducated female vegetarian. there are humane ways to kill animals, i’m sorry if you’re too pathetic to realize that, but there are. i never said you had to be apart of this awesome tradition, i said you have the choice. seriously, stop being such a drama whore and coming on a video saying ‘killing animals is a sick tradition’. go whine somewhere else and get over it

  9. [..YouTube..] @zenithsage “vegetarians are so stuck up.” is like saying “Old people smell like shit.” or “Black people are nasty.” or “Females are whores.” Assuming all people of a certain group are a certain way is ignorant. And i happen to love giraffes :)

  10. [..YouTube..] @diehardcutie Brainwashed? I dont see how being compassionate equals being brainwashed. The words “killed” and “humane” simply do not work together in my book. My opinion is not even close to being uneducated. And im aware the majority eat meat and always will. Doesnt mean i have to be a part of that sick tradition.

  11. diehardcutie says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick i rather be an educated dick than a brainwashed vegeterian/vegan. there are plenty of ways and places to purchase meat that were/are killed in humane ways. since you can’t seem to read for yourself, I never said you didn’t have the choice. you are free to comment, but leaving uneducated comments are subject to replies from others. don’t like that? shouldn’t have posted a comment. the majority of people will always eat meat, get over it

  12. [..YouTube..] @diehardcutie Humans have the ability to CHOOSE. Since we have that choice, why not eat plant based food rather that flesh and other animal products that are a result of filthy, nasty, inhumane conditions. And for the record..i dont like tofu, this is youtube, i am free to comment as i please. Not to mention i was NOT rude, and moving to another planet…right. And educating myself? You seem to be the one who is unaware that they do NOT humanely kill these animals. Try not being a dick for a day

  13. diehardcutie says:

[..YouTube..] @TheRandomdarkchick so a frog eats a mosquito.. do you have a mental breakdown over that aswell? or is it only when a human kills an animal to eat? hypocritical really. humans naturally eat animals, if you don’t like that eat your tofu, shut up or move to a different planet.actually there are humane ways of killing an animal, someone needs to educate themselves.

  14. [..YouTube..] I wanna see your boobs, isnt that natural?

  15. [..YouTube..] there is nothing natural about computers either.

  16. pbl1 says:

[..YouTube..] @SuperChristopherZ – free the “caps lock”

  17. cutieface165 says:

[..YouTube..] yes, i only eat free range, grass freed meats. it ensures that the animals had a happy life like they were supposed to and were not subjected to cruelty or chemicals. its natural and good for u. YAY happy animals

  18. preitaly says:

[..YouTube..] eat it: the animals wouldnt live if we wouldnt eat them, so the question is if not to exist is better then to exist and maybe be treatet bad

  19. [..YouTube..] No. There is nothing “humane” about ending a life. Im a vegan. Killing is killing.

  20. FishyMoe says:

[..YouTube..] grow your own food – aquaponics, quail, meat rabbits, squarefoot gardening, wickingbeds, permaculture, go do it now.

  21. [..YouTube..] ACTUALLY WE NEEDED MEAT IN THE BEGINNING BUT TODAY THE MEAT PRODUCTION FACTORIES HAVE POISONED THE OCEANS WITH WEIRD BACTERIA THAT KILLS FISH AND IS LIKE AIDS TO THEM SO YEAH THANKS TO YOU MORON FLESH EATERS WHO CANT KILL THE ANIMALS YOURSELVES : ) YOU ARE SO HELPFUL TO YOUR ETERNAL (MAYBE) LINE OF CHILDREN THUMBS UP FOR BEING MORONS DEPENDING ON SOMEONE ELSE TO KILL FOR YOU LIKE A COWARD : ) YES AND MOST VEGANS LIVE VERY HAPPY LIVES NOT DEPENDING ON THE SLAUGHTER AND TORURE OF ANIMALS BY IDIOTS

  22. [..YouTube..] @TokiUltra Yes, that makes YOU specifically carnivorous. But humans, from an evolutionary perspective, are naturally omnivores. Just one human being deciding to only ever eat meat does not make referring to humans as omnivores incorrect.

  23. [..YouTube..] @djanarak There’s no such thing as a vegetarian who eats meat… so she’s not a “vegetarian gal” she’s just a regular omnivorous one.

  24. djanarak says:

[..YouTube..] Wow, you’re the first vegetarian gal I’ve heard recommend the occasional chicken or steak in your diet :) Most other vegetarians I know eat only vegetables, and you can tell that there’s something wrong with them. They tend to be moody (both men and women) and they definitely have a few screws loose in the head. Thanks goodness you’re sensible!

  25. [..YouTube..] A number of authorities say that eating meat is unnecessary. It is also likely that our need for protein is exaggerated. A baby grows faster than any other time in its life on breast milk which is only 5% protein. It appears that man is a carnivore by virtue of the fact that he eats meat on occasion, but not an obligate carnivore since he can do well without it, particularly if he supplements his diet with vitamin B-12, carnosine or beta-alanine, long-chained omega-3 fatty acids and a few others

  26. dwculver says:

[..YouTube..] fishes.. fish is plural.. but you are quite lovely

  27. TokiUltra says:

[..YouTube..] @prophetarm i eat meat and NOTHING else. Therefore your comment is wrong. FAIL

  28. prophetarm says:

[..YouTube..] The correct term would be “omnivores”, not “carnivores and herbivores”.

  29. daninsf says:

[..YouTube..] Humans would never have evolved as quickly as they did without the high energy content available in eating meat.

  30. [..YouTube..] @topgymboy lmao she looks fine wtf are you looking at? i eat practicaly nothing but chicken and beef i feel great and strong and i dont care at all because animals dont really have lives…. -.-

  31. topgymboy says:

[..YouTube..] you are one stupid girl, I am all muscle and i am Vegan , Human body is not designed to eat meat. soon you will have fat belly and look like the cows and pigs that you eat. by the way you look very sick and unhealthy.

  32. Robert111 says:

[..YouTube..] I don’t have time to go through this slut’s videos. Can anyone tell me if she has any videos showing some skin?

  33. sickboyduke says:

[..YouTube..] *common ethics (in the last line)

  34. sickboyduke says:

[..YouTube..] I think right now its a question of personal ethics. Some bitchy vegetarians or vegans in big cities as a culture of evolutonary lifestyle dont make a change, the whole industry behind producing meat could…in improving the conditions…What would drain their profits. So this wont happen the next time. There are no good reasons to eat meat today, because its not necessary anymore. I eat meat today with more respect and care…but there is no way i could justify that with any ethics.

  35. synthetickat says:

[..YouTube..] @zenithsage Sure, I’m interested in this. I’m a vegan, but I’m not a fascist, and believe to each their own. =) I’ve found that by eliminating dairy and meat from my diet, I just “feel better”. It’s difficult to explain. My skin cleared up a bit, and I don’t have the same sluggish feeling I had before. I’m interested in learning about nutrition, for sure.

  36. zenithsage says:

[..YouTube..] @synthetickat (con’t) The nails are reminders that our ancestors used them as tools to tear meat. The nails of primates evolved from the claws of reptiles. Our teeth are omnivore, which obviously shows a connection with our earlier ancestors who ate plants and our more recent ancestors who ate meat. There is biological evidence of this. If you want me to send you empirical evidence just ask and I will.

  37. zenithsage says:

[..YouTube..] @synthetickat Actually, our teeth and digestive systems are designed for eating meat, but it doesn’t really matter. Our ancestors were mostly plant eaters who made use of our appendix, a useless vestigial organ that used to break down plant matter. Later on, our ancestors started to eat meat, which increased our brain size greatly. And our bodies are now able to break down protein more efficiency than plant matter.

  38. synthetickat says:

[..YouTube..] @zenithsage Actually, our teeth and digestive systems aren’t designed for eating meat, but it doesn’t really matter. In the end, you are capable of doing both–because you don’t need to lunge at a gazelle like a lion, and if you suffer from indigestion, you have pepto bismol. Lol =P

  39. synthetickat says:

[..YouTube..] @sarahruhls It can be both, lol =P

  40. synthetickat says:

[..YouTube..] Depends on how you define humane, I guess. Is raising an animal for the sheer purpose of ending its life for food humane? Is doing so, but killing them swiftly and trying to minimize their pain humane?I don’t think so, personally. But that’s my opinion. To each their own.

  41. temjiin says:

[..YouTube..] W.H.O. state a protein requirement of 6% calories from protein.Fruit is made of 5-10% proteinConsuming excess protein means our bodies are forced into gluconeogenesis to convert amino acids to glucose. This can lead to kidney failure. Why would we be evolutionarily adapted to something that could harm us? Don’t give me that protein shite. Do some scientific research! We are frugivores like all other primates!

  42. NWOIsANoGo says:

[..YouTube..] we’re not herbivores and carnivores, you can’t be both at once, we’re omnivores. Not possible unless you do just as you said, kill one animal at a time and consume all parts. Other wise you support a horrific industry and are not humane.

  43. sarahruhls says:

[..YouTube..] Fishes? Isn’t it just fish?

  44. mofohains says:

[..YouTube..] I dont think you made your shirt. It came from a Chinese sweatshop. We all use the system that is given to us.

  45. jpa23245 says:

[..YouTube..] just be a sympathetic vegan which you already seem to be. There is no arguing that red meat is not good for us on occasion. I am sure that there are ways around it with a diverse amount of legumes and nuts to get all of your b-vitamins and amino acids.. but ultimately our bodies could go for a long time off of the soy bean..

  46. zenithsage says:

[..YouTube..] @bartok6969 You are wrong. You definitely need to take a anatomy class and educate yourself. No matter what your opinion is that fact stands that we are omnivores and that our digestive system can break meat faster than vegetables. Also, smokers live over 100, does it mean they are healthy? They simply have a gene that makes them live long. It is my life, you constrict yourself and take whatever unnatural supplements you need, and I will live my life. I’ll have the best of both worlds.

  47. bartok6969 says:

[..YouTube..] @zenithsage – You also need to educate yourself about human evolution and the human body. Our teeth and digestive enzymes closely resemble a herbivores (try and catch a deer with your teeth), and our digestive tract is nothing like that of a carnivore. I also don’t know any humans who eat grass, but I’d be willing to bet that Jack LaLanne, at 95 and vegetarian, will outlast you in a workout.

  48. zenithsage says:

[..YouTube..] @bartok6969 Sorry, but eating meat is in human nature. You can obviously see that our teeth and our digestive system is made for meat. An animals life is not worth as much as a humans. You can fight against this so-called “injustice” as long as you do not take away my right to eat meat. Sorry, I cannot sustain myself on grass only.

  49. bartok6969 says:

[..YouTube..] @zenithsage – You’re indifferent and you’ve chosen the path of convenience. It is not the oppressors but the indifference of the silent majority that has stagnated progress throughout history. You know nothing about vegetarians. Most of us ate meat at some point, and it’s not easy or convenient to give it up. So no, we won’t leave you alone. We’ll fight injustice, whether it’s animals, children, honor killings against women or genocide- we will speak for those who have no voice.

  50. jjrants says:

[..YouTube..] @mofofosho13 You’re mother fucking right!! When CONGRESS has to pass a “Cheeseburger bill” using TAXPAYER DOLLARS, to keep these assholes from Sueing corporations like McDonalds, they SHOULD be shot!!! Personally, I think some parents should be locked up in a dark, creepy dungeon and forced to scrape the lard out of each other’s thights by candlelight. They can then render it into Biofuel and at least have a single fucking purpose in life. When they scrape down to the bone… they can go.
